EMILY WHITTY IS ALSO PART OF THE PAINTING CREW. I LEFT HER NAME OUT OF LAST NIGHT’S BLOG AS A PART OF THE PAINTING CREW. I PUT THIS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IN HOPES THAT I CAN GET BACK ON HER GOOD SIDE 🙂
Today’s blog is about the A-Team. The crew members – Bill Rusher, Scott Rooney, Bobby Hubbard, Zach Bostic, Harry Phelps, and Joey Mistretta. Several others joined the team today, but the above names are the Original 6.
On Monday, Michael K. named them the manual labor crew, as they would be doing several different jobs during the week. That was obviously not good enough for the crew. They named themselves the A-Team.
Today, they worked at the GoChurch, a church in the Nicholtown community where most of the crews have been working this week, at one point in time or another. The original plan was to work on the wiring – right up Bill Rusher’s alley.
Here – you’ll see Joey Mistretta pointing to the electrical cords that, had the fire marshal shown up, would be a reason for the church to be shut down until it was fixed. The cords are how they run power to the different parts of their youth room.
As has happened to this crew several times this week, plans changed. The new plan was to take out a drop ceiling – demolition with hammers and crowbars. That was OK with the youth. Zach and Scott put together some bunk beds yesterday.
Two of the crew shared about their day:
Zach Bostic: Today, we accomplished part of something important for Pastor Norman (the youth minister at GoChurch). We wanted to share the process of Pastor Norman’s dream to keep the children in the neighborhood happy. I was very happy to do it.
Joey Mistretta: I saw God in Pastor Norman with how thankful he was for us just being there. Today, we made huge improvements for the youth group’s area where they meet.
Yesterday, we celebrated Zach Bostic’s birthday. It was really special that we got to spend his special day with him.
As I end this blog, I hear Bill Rusher talking with the guys in their room about how awesome the go-karts were at Frankie’s Fun Park tonight. It’s been a good day.
