If you have any questions not answered below, please contact Rev. Anna Perry Miller (annapmiller@riverroad.church).
What is Weekend of Wonder?
Weekend of Wonder is an in-house retreat. Friday evening. Saturday daytime. Sunday morning. But you get to sleep at home in your own bed!
Why is a churchwide retreat happening?
To renew our sense of awe at the wonders of God all around us. To wake up and open our eyes to wonder-full life—because life has a way of distracting and consuming us. And, because we need this special time together.
Who is Weekend of Wonder for?
People age 0-99. Each age group will be offered meaningful content most suited for them. This is not your everyday kids birthday magic show. This is a world travelled illusionist: Nate Staniforth.
Can anybody attend?
Absolutely. Postcards in the sanctuary narthex or main office are available if you want to share one with someone. Invite them to our website for more info, rrcb.org/wow. Invite your friends, family members, neighbors. They need to register on our website.
Where is Weekend of Wonder held?
At church so as many people as possible can come. We will use the Fellowship Hall and some classroom areas at times. We finish with Sunday worship which is, of course, in our sanctuary.

What is happening for my youth?
Rev. Ben Brown, Minister to Students at Second Baptist Church of Richmond, will be leading our youth in Bible study, activities, and conversations about living wonder-filled lives, aware and in awe of God’s goodness. Youth are defined as 6th-12th graders.
Is there COVID Safety & Planning?
If the Omicron peak takes a nosedive:
- We will wear masks when we are not eating while seated at our tables.
- Extra hand sanitizer will be on hand.
- Respecting one another by not being in close personal space is expected.
If Omicron has not subsided making us unable to eat together:
- We will find another weekend in the future to which we can move the event.
- In this case, your payment will hold your spot. If you cannot attend at the newly selected date, your money will be refunded to you.
What if I get sick and can’t attend?
If you get sick or have an emergency making you unable to attend, your portion of the payment made will be refunded.
What if I need to leave for something?
This is a retreat and it is a whole event. Ideally folks will be part of the entire weekend. We recognize that it is not feasible for everyone and we trust you will make the best decision for yourself. If you need to go care for a pet, lunchtime Saturday is recommended.
