Fred is the historian for Virginia Baptists. For 35 years he has served as executive director of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society and in 2000 he became the founding executive director of the Center for Baptist Heritage & Studies. Both organizations are housed at the University of Richmond. He and his wife Nancy are members of the Friendship Class. Fred is a layman although he is a guest preacher in about 35 pulpits each year. His education included Berry College, the University of West Georgia, and Peabody College of Vanderbilt University.
