Thoughtful Faith Community is Moving to Sunday Evenings!
The Board of Christian Education & Spiritual Formation (BCESF) has listened for some time to the congregation and we learned that weeknight meals and meetings are not a possibility for many. The Board, along with ministerial staff, decided to explore a different format this fall—to move Thoughtful Faith Community (TFC) from Wednesday to Sunday evenings. We hope that the entire church family can be together around the dinner tables enjoying fellowship and that this change will be more convenient for those who have limited schedules during the week. We have created a schedule, which you will find below, that we hope meets the needs of each age group, while honoring supper time together.
Following our Celebration Sunday kick-off, the first TFC night is September 17, 2023!
A Streamlined Schedule
- 4:00-4:45 p.m.: River Road Camerata
- 4:45-5:15 p.m.: Youth Choir (6th-12th grades), Jubilate Choir (2nd-5th grades), and Carol Choir (age 4-1st grade)
- 5:00-6:00 p.m.: Community Meal and Chancel Ringers Rehearsal
- 5:45-7:00 p.m.: Youth Group and Children’s Rec & Missions
- 6:00-7:00 p.m.: Adult Program/Missions
The goal will be for most everyone to begin and end at the same time.
Supper & Reservations
You will still need to make your weekly reservation by a given time each week, and Stan Barnett will continue to prepare delicious meals for us. Menus typically include a meat, vegetarian, and child-friendly option, salad bar, sides, and dessert.
What about Wednesdays?
The Sunday evening prayer email—Together in Prayer—will shift to Wednesday evenings beginning September 13, 2023. You will still receive a prayer written by a member of the pastoral staff or congregation, and an updated church family prayer list. We hope you will continue to use this as a time of reflection and devotion as the day comes to an end.
With a streamlined Sunday schedule, weekdays may present themselves as attractive options for River Road Church’s flourishing small group ministries.
