Bill Lohmann, a popular columnist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, presented an entertaining and informative program for the Comma Club on September 12. He shared travel tales from trips across Virginia with the newspaper’s photographer Bob Brown. The two have authored two pictorial books on people, places and even pies which they have enjoyed at Virginia eateries. In honor of the pie stories, the Comma Club’s luncheon menu included chicken pot pie and a choice of two dessert pies.

The Comma Club continued their theme of Virginia travels, by taking a bus tour to the Shenandoah Valley to learn more about the back roads of Virginia. On their trip, the group went to Shenandoah Heritage Farmers Market, Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center, Traditions Restaurant, John Kline Homestead, Showalter’s Orchard & Greenhouse, and Dayton Farmer’s Market.

The Comma Club is a group that meets once a month for lunch and a program at the church. On occasion the group plans a day trip in pursuit of their constant curiosity and desire to learn new things. The Comma Club is primarily made up of senior adults, though it is not a requirement; anyone interested in a program or trip is invited. Monthly luncheons and trips are posted online.

Join The Comma Club for the next program on February 13, 2018 — Kevin Trevillian, who has been a Federal Marshal for 30 years, will be our speaker.
