Last year, after a several year hiatus, we resurrected the Thanksgiving service at River Road Church. We invited our friends from Quioccasin Baptist Church to join us for this worship service and Rev. Dr. Theodore Brown, Quioccasin’s pastor, delivered a stirring sermon on the true meaning of gratitude.
I am pleased to announce that we will again have a Thanksgiving worship service on Monday, November 25, at 7:00 pm. This year, our friends at Quioccasin have invited us to worship in their sanctuary at 9011 Quioccasin Road and they have graciously invited me to preach. What’s more, some River Road musicians will have a special part in the service, too.
I am grateful that our church has nurtured a relationship with Quioccasin Baptist Church. As theirs is a predominantly African- American church, and ours is a predominantly Anglo church, worshiping together gives us an opportunity to live out our belief that Christ calls us to be one. Moreover, our joint worship serves as a testimony to this broken world that Christ’s love brings us together.
I hope you’ll make plans now to attend this service as we lift our hearts to God in gratitude and celebration of all God is doing in our church, in our world, and in our lives. Thanks be to God!
