In 2009 and 2010, members of RRCB ventured to North Dakota for mission work with the Standing Rock Sioux Indians through the WMU of Virginia. Since 2011, RRCB has traveled to Standing Rock the week following the WMU week, to offer extra assistance to Pastor Boots and the people of Cannon Ball. This has been a successful ministry, and a partnership valued by many.
Due to unforeseen circumstances that occurred after RRCB planned the week to Standing Rock, we have decided that we will not be traveling to Standing Rock August 1-8 of this year. We go to work specifically with Pastor Boots and Jackie, and help them in their endeavors to begin the new fall year at the church, re-organize the church after summer teams have been there, to minister to the women of the community, to offer health screenings through our nurses, to landscape, and do small construction projects. This year, Boots and Jackie will be traveling during the week we had planned to be at Tipi Wakan.
There is the option for anyone interested to join the WMU group the week of July 25-August 1. More information can be found on the WMUV’s website or you may contact Cathy Banton (804-915-5000).
