River Road Church, Baptist, has a vital and growing children’s ministry. Each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening children of all ages gather to hear gospel stories, make new friends and learn about the love of Christ while their parents experience the “adult” version of these same activities. To provide a meaningful experience for these children is no small task.
Each year around this time Mary Beth Scherer and I begin the task of recruiting approximately 110 volunteers to staff the nursery through fifth grade educational needs. Recruiting this many volunteers is both exciting and challenging. I am amazed that so many adults eagerly offer themselves to serve, love and educate our youngest “members.” Having said this, if you receive a phone call offering you the opportunity to share your gifts in the children’s area I ask that you seriously consider saying, “YES.”When everyone does their part what once looked daunting suddenly becomes very doable. Just say yes!
