Your church staff and the Board of Christian Education and Spiritual Formation have been hard at work revamping our Wednesday night programming. We’ve worked to align the children’s and adults’ schedules so that parents and families can participate more fully. Additionally, we’ve sought to include intergenerational and mission activities, and we’ve included youth in our Wednesday programs.

Our brainstorming together included a Wednesday night last spring where we received your comments on schedule and educational emphases. In proposing a new structure for Wednesday night programming, we are seeking to be faithful to your suggestions and provide a quality evening of learning and fellowship. We’re calling this new venture Thoughtful Faith Community.

Beginning September 6, our schedule will adjust slightly with supper beginning at 5:15 and all programs ending at 7:15. This will allow our families to participate in ways that were more difficult before.

Children — following their choir time, our children will follow a rotation model for learning in which they will have (on different weeks) recreation, bible stories, missions education (learning about missionaries and participating in mission projects), and time with adults where everyone studies the same topic.

Youth — our teenagers will have study hall some weeks and provide leadership to the children’s programs on other weeks.

Adults — our adult programs for the fall will include book reviews, mission team reports, a Reformation series, visit from missionaries, caroling by the fire, and much more!

Thank you in advance for your support of Wednesday nights. Click here and you’ll find a detailed schedule, program preview, meal reservations, and volunteer opportunities. We can’t wait to see you on Wednesday evenings this fall!

Thoughtful Faith Community (TFC-Kids): We’re Doing a New Thing!

“Look! I’m doing a new thing; now it sprouts up; don’t you recognize it? I’m making a way in the desert, paths in the wilderness.”
Isaiah 43:19

We’re doing something new! Starting on September 6, we are trying something new for our children, youth, and their families at River Road Church. In an effort to include our parents and families in the programming on Wednesday nights, we adjusted the schedule, and added new opportunities for children and youth so our church family can meet as one. Our youth will have the option of study hall time in the youth suite, and our children will follow a rotation model doing different parts of the program on different weeks. They will have a fellowship time of recreation, a time of learning with bible stories, a Missions Education time to learn about our different CBF missionaries around the world, and local missions River Road supports here in Richmond. We will also have intergenerational nights where can gather together as the RRCB family. We hope you will join us on Wednesday nights as we try this new thing. If you’re interested in volunteering! We’d love to have you! Contact Kim Crowley at kimcrowley@riverroad.church for more details.
