The Lenten season is a time for reflection and introspection. Traditionally it is also time for one to prepare for baptism. That tradition continues at River Road Church with the Inquirers’ Class. Young people are invited to join a class of like seekers as they explore and ask questions pertaining to a personal profession of faith and then baptism.

The four-week class allows youth to discover what the Bible says is required to become a Christian and also the significance of baptism and church membership. The journey is personal, each person deciding for themselves the proper course of action. For most young people, this is one of the first decisions they will make by themselves. The class will begin meeting on Sunday morning February 17th at 9:00 AM and will continue for the next three Sundays, ending on March 10th.

They are reminded that every Christian in the congregation has taken a similar journey and will recall that event when the class makes their profession of faith public on Palm Sunday, March 24th. Perhaps each of us should refresh ourselves with the Biblical texts and recall to mind the journey taken to become a Christ follower. The following texts, read in order, should be a good starting point to once again take the journey:

  • Romans 3:23
  • Romans 6:23
  • Ephesians 2: 8-9
  • Luke 18:13
  • John 3: 16-17
  • I Cor. 10:13
  • Romans 8: 38-39
  • Romans 10: 9-10
  • II Cor. 6:2
  • Acts 8: 35-39
