River Roadsters Trip
Friday, June 20
Great Falls, MD
The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, located adjacent to Washington Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, VA, is the companion facility to the National Air & Space Museum on the National Mall in Washington D.C. The building opened in 2003 and provides enough space for the Smithsonian to display the thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited at the Museum on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Enjoy a guided tour and hear about the history behind such aircraft as Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, the fastest jet in the word; the Enola Gay; and the space shuttle Discovery.
Lunch mid-day is included at the Chantilly National Country Club, followed by a visit to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal for a one-hour narrated canal ride!
Preserving America’s early transportation history, the C&O Canal began as a dream of passage to Western wealth. Operating for nearly 100 years the canal was a lifeline for communities along the Potomac River as coal, lumber, and agricultural products floated down the waterway to market. Today it endures as a pathway for discovering historical, natural and recreational treasures! Your canal boat ride departs out of Potomac, MD at Great Fall Park, an 800-acre park located along the Potomac River.
