River Roadsters’ Trip
Thursday, March 28, 2013

In a city of bronze statues and concrete monuments, the cherry blossoms triumph as an exquisite and wondrous tourist attraction. The famous trees, a gift from Japan in 1912, signal the coming of spring with an explosion of life and color surrounding the Jefferson Memorial on the Tidal Basin in a sea of pink and white (can’t guarantee they will be bloom, but this is the time they should be!). Enjoy the Cherry Blossoms at the FDR Memorial along the Tidal Basin. Next is a family style lunch at Carmine’s (famous NYC Italian restaurant that has recently opened in DC), followed by an afternoon visit to Arlington National Cemetery. Here you will board a sightseeing tram, allowing you to stop at all of the major sights – including the remarkable “Changing of the Guard.” This famous, national shrine, encompassing approximately 612 acres, honors many national heroes and more than 240,000 war dead, veterans, and dependents.
