On October 12, 1969, Exactly 50 years ago, we celebrated the first Sunday of worship in the Sanctuary at River Road Church. The Rev. Dr. Vernon Britt Richardson, our pastor at the time, led the service marked by glorious music, a stirring sermon, and beautiful litanies and prayers written by Dr. Richardson.
This Sunday, October 13, 2019, we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of this Service of Consecration of People and Building. The Chancel Choir, Chancel Bell Choir, Brass Quartet, and Organ will lead the music of the service. We will have representatives from Denominational and Mission partners, and I will preach a sermon entitled Christ, Our Cornerstone.
Please join us as we celebrate the wonderful gift God gave us in the River Road Church Sanctuary. We will re-consecrate this holy space and re-dedicate ourselves to the worship of God.
