This weekend is filled with inspiring musical events!
On Saturday evening at 7:45 p.m., our church will host a highly reputed high school choir visiting from the suburbs of Philadelphia. The Central Bucks High School-West Choir from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, under the direction of Dr. Joseph Ohrt is one of the premiere high school choral ensembles in the nation. They have presented performances for Presidents Obama and Clinton of the United States, Presidents DeKlerk and Mandela of South Africa, President Havel of the Czech Republic, and Prime Minister Perez of Israel. West Choir has performed more than twenty times at Carnegie Hall and seven times at The White House as well as Chicago Symphony Hall, Severance Hall in Cleveland, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Boston Symphony Hall, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. They have presented over 400 world premieres of music written for them by composers from around the globe – a world record. This concert will feature American music based on texts of Thomas Jefferson and other presidents. The concert will take place in the Sanctuary, and Christopher Martin will serve as accompanist.
On Sunday at 7 p.m., tenor Chris Ahart, will perform music by Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Lalo, Duparc, and Albeniz. Chris and I have been working together on this recital for several weeks, and I can assure you that you have a real treat in store. I am constantly amazed by the beauty of his voice and the depth of his expression. Please invite your friends to our church to hear this superb singer. A reception will follow in the Parlor.
