Since 1922, The U.S. Army Band’s Pershing’s Own has maintained a tradition of excellence as once of the premier musical organizations of The United States Army. It was founded in 1922 by Army Chief of Staff General John J. “Black Jack” Pershing. Pershing established the band to emulate European military bands he heard during World War I. Its mission survives to this day and continues to play an important role in events in our Nation’s Capital, the band has performed with honor and grace for more than 85 years. From the battlefields of World War II to the historic events in our Nation’s Capital, the band has performed with honor and grace for more than 85 years. Today’s holiday concert, highlighting U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” and wonderful singers of the Army Chorus, will be performed at the US Army Band’s headquarters, Brucker Hall, located at Ft. Myer. A plated lunch will follow at the Officers’ Club at Ft. Myer.
