River Roadsters’ Trip
Tuesday, November 19, 2013
In the fall of 2011, Steven Spielberg and Hollywood occupied Richmond to film Spielberg’s latest blockbuster, Lincoln, which is now up for a record 12 Oscar Nominations. Not often is a major hollywood movie filmed entirely in the Richmond area-particularly a movie by Steven Speilberg, one of the most influential and well-known directors of our time. Now is your chance to walk in the footsteps of the cast and crew of this Steven Spielberg masterpiece. Join local historian, artist, and actor Henry Kidd as he relates his experiences “on the set” with Spielberg, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, and other actors. In addition to playing a U.S. Congressman, Kidd taught Spielberg and many of the extras how to properly imitate the fabled “Rebel Yell.” Explore the sites where much of the filming took place, including the Virginia State Capitol (interiors and exteriors), the exterior of the Governor’s Mansion, the White House of the Confederacy (interior), and many sites in Old Town Petersburg. Lunch is included mid-day in downtown Richmond at The Tobacco Company Restaurant.
