2011 Potluck
Please join the Board of Deacons as they host a cookout and potluck dinner, Sunday, August 25, at 5:00pm. Dinner will be followed by a screening of the movie, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” hosted by the Board of Christian Education and Spiritual Formation as part of the River Road Reads program and it based on the book, “The Hobbit,” by J.R.R. Tolkien.. You may attend just the dinner, just the movie, or come for the whole evening!
The deacons will be grilling and serving hamburgers and hot dogs provided by the church, while the sides and dessert will be brought potluck style by all who attend. A screening of the movie, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” will be shown in the Fellowship Hall. Tables will be set up “Cinebistro” style so you can eat and watch.
Potluck Assignments:
- A-F: bring a dessert
- G-P: bring a salad
- Q-Z: bring a starchy side
Those not wishing to view the movie are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and chairs to enjoy their food on the Front Plaza, or sit at tables in the back of the Fellowship Hall. There is no cost for dinner or the movie, but space is limited.
The deadline to make reservations is Tuesday, August 20, and you can sign up by filling out the form below or by calling the Church Office (804-288-1131).
The movie will be in the Fellowship Hall and will begin at 6:00pm. Note: The movie is rated PG-13 and may not be suitable for younger audiences. Running time is 169 minutes. You may wish to consult IMDB for more details on the film as well as a parents guide to the film (compiled by IMDB users).
Be sure to include the number of adults, youth, and children attending. There is no charge for the meal or movie.
