May 20th was Youth Sunday. University of Pittsburg (where Jonas Salk developed the Salk polio vaccine) graduate Dexter Gulick preached a thought provoking sermon on “The Light Within You” and the Youth Choir sang two anthems, one being “Amazing Grace” and the other “Praise His Holy Name.” The second song was a spiritual sung with gusto by the youth choir. It included rhythmic hand clapping and increased voice volume. When the spiritual ended, there was a three to four second silence and then, the lone but distinct voice of RRCB’s elder prophet Henry Langford pronounced “Amen.” After the “Amen” the congregation responded with a rousing round of spontaneous applause. It was like a brief glimpse of the eternal.
