American Red Cross Blood Drive
Monday, November 6, 2023
10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Fellowship Hall
The Red Cross needs the help of blood and platelet donors and blood drive hosts to maintain a sufficient blood supply for weeks to come. It’s important to remember that blood is perishable and cannot be stockpiled. Please consider donating blood with River Road Church on November 6. The blood drive will take place in the Fellowship Hall. Donations are by appointment only; no walk-ins.

Helpful Information:
Rapid Pass:
Blood donors can help save lives in less time by using the Red Cross RapidPass® online health history system. RapidPass streamlines the donation experience by allowing donors to complete pre-donation reading and health history questions online on the day of the blood drive from the convenience of a computer or mobile device.
To get a RapidPass, donors should visit redcrossblood.org/rapidpass or use the Red Cross Blood Donor App to complete all of the questions, then print their RapidPass® or show it on a mobile device when they come to donate. Be sure to complete RapidPass the day of your donation.
Power Red:
Have you considered donating Power Red? Those with type O, B negative, and A negative blood are eligible to maximize their impact at their time of blood donation. For more information to see if you are eligible visit redcrossblood.org/powerred.
Health of donors for day of donation:
While a well-balanced diet is generally adequate to have normal iron levels, donors should eat extra iron-rich foods like fish, poultry, red meat, beans, peas, lentils, iron-fortified cereals, bread and dried fruit in the days prior to their donation appointments. Foods rich in vitamin C, such as oranges, broccoli, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries, peppers, potatoes and cabbage, can increase iron absorption. Iron supplements should be taken only after consulting with a personal healthcare provider or pharmacist. Donors can learn more at redcrossblood.org/iron.
Donors are encouraged to drink larger amounts of water to make the donation process quicker!
