Due to the wether forecast Celebration Sunday has been moved indoors.
The church picnic will be held in the Fellowship Hall and the church fair will be held in the Upper Commons and Upper Commons classrooms.
All are welcome to attend, reservation or not.
Celebration Sunday Churchwide Picnic & Fair

Summer is coming to an end; schools are back in session, the beach breeze is cooler, and the church calendar is filling up. Let’s kick off the fall, a new season of church life, with our annual churchwide picnic, Celebration Sunday.
Potluck Picnic on the Plaza
You are encouraged to bring your camp chairs and blankets for a picnic on the plaza. Some tables and chairs will be available, too, if needed. The Social Committee is providing fried chicken, and the congregation will provide the sides (listed below). Please bring a side that corresponds to your last name:
- A-J: salad
- K-S: side
- T-Z: dessert
Church Fairgrounds
During the picnic there will be fun and games on the front lawn for all ages, from children to senior adults to everyone in between. We will have lawn games, fake tattoos, a bounce house, and more. And last, but not least, can you beat Matt Rooney? The Young Adults will be running a dunk tank, and for $1 a throw (benefiting Camp Alkulana and the Fellowship Fund) you can try to dunk Matt.
Treats & Fair in the Fellowship Hall
Step into the air conditioning, get a dessert (or two), and get to know your church. At River Road Church, we proudly have a large community of committees, small groups, and ministries. Many of them work behind the scenes or are engaged “out of the spotlight.” While you’re enjoying dessert, walk around the Fellowship Hall, mingle with old and new friends, and stop by the different booths to get to know your church.
Be the Church
While sign ups are not required, they are strongly encouraged to help us plan for food. In addition to dinner sign ups, there are volunteer opportunities for setup and clean up. And don’t forget to call your friends, care groups, classmates, and non-members to extend an invitation to come to Celebration Sunday—offer to give them a ride to church and sign them up for supper.
