Weekend of Wonder

Wonder Through Photography
What Do You See?
Warren Johnson got interested in photography during a Summer college project working with the Cherokee Indians in North Carolina. This was in 1965. All he had at the time was a Kodak Instamatic camera. Soon after that he was able to get a Nikon single lens reflex camera, and the rest is history. After struggling to earn a bachelors degree, he had a streak of luck. He was hired as a photographer at the Southern Baptist (then) Foreign Mission Board and did so for 35 years photographing overseas work and domestic events for publication purposes.
He always looked for the moment, and the interaction of subjects, and frequently looked for details and relationships in the everyday world. Things that at first glance would seem unimportant, but somehow bring new meaning and perspective to our surroundings.
Since 2003 he has freelanced, and is still available for select assignments. He enjoys photographing his grandchildren and other daily activities.
He is one of several excellent workshop leaders who will guide us on Saturday afternoon. Participants will have the opportunity to select two sessions out of seven selections. These will focus on a wide variety of topics and experiences because we know that each person experiences awe, joy, and wonder in different ways. The areas of focus are: science, photography, art, music, sports, movement and meditation, and poetry.
“Wonder reminds you that magic is all around you… if you remember to look.”
