Note: This is a series of posts aimed at helping you get to know your church staff in a more personal way. We hope you enjoy!

I want to introduce you to Megan Parrish who is serving as the Youth Ministry Intern this summer. Megan is serving through a program of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) called Student.Church that matches students who are interested in ministry with a local congregation to learn the ins and outs of ministry. Megan has already proven to be invaluable as we are prepping for our Mission Trip and Passport Camp. She will join for some hospital visits, worship participation, and some other events over the summer. When you see her, I hope you will say hello! Below you’ll find more about Megan in her own words.

– Marnie Fisher-Ingram

Hi! I’m Megan Parrish and I’m super excited for this summer here at River Road Church, Baptist. I’m studying Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Go Tar Heels! I was born in Georgia and raised in Germany, but I currently live in Chesterfield, which is a little south of here. My mom is a church secretary at Chester Baptist Church and my dad is retired from the Army. I have a younger sister, and three dogs (ask me about them, I love to talk about them!). I chose to work for Student.Church this summer because I am interested in ministry, but I’m not entirely positive that it’s what I want to do. I’m hoping this summer helps me figure it out! Some requirements of the program are that I go on a hospital visit, participate in worship, help within another ministry area, and read two books. You can find me in Marnie’s office a few days a week, and in service on Sunday mornings. I’m also going to be going on the two youth trips and helping with VBS this summer. I’m super excited to get to know all the youth and go to PassportMissions at Furman University. I worked with PassportMissions in 2017 as a Summer Staff Intern and I’m super excited to be back at Furman for a week! In my free time I like to walk my dogs, read, and spend time outside. You can usually find me laying in a hammock or on the boat with a book in my hands! I just finished “A Year of Biblical Womanhood” by Rachel Held Evans (which was SO good), and I’m currently reading “The Huntress” by Kate Quinn and “Evolving in Monkey Town” by Rachel Held Evans. Come chat with me about books, college basketball, dogs, or anything else!
