Choir Pilgrimage to the West of England

Please note that the deposit schedule listed on the website includes estimated cost of airfare. Though all are asked to make the initial trip deposit payment, the deposit schedule will be adjusted later for those of you booking your own travel.

There are two new points of information concerning the 2019 pilgrimage to British abbeys and cathedrals:

We are thrilled to announce that renowned organist Huw Williams will serve as our accompanist for every service that we will sing in England. Mr. Williams is the Music Director at Bath Abbey, but he has also served in the following capacities: Music Director of the Chapel Royal (Buckingham Palace); Organist at St. Paul’s Cathedral, London; and Organist at Hereford Cathedral. Hearing Mr. Williams play the organs at Bath Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral, Bristol Cathedral, and Tewkesbury Abbey should be a real treat. He is an extraordinary accompanist, which is evident from the dozens of CD’s on which he accompanies some of England’s greatest choirs. He is also wonderful at working with children and youth. And according to Mr. Williams, “That’s a great line up you have. Some of the most lovely acoustics and buildings over here. I reckon Bristol, Gloucester, Bath, and Tewkesbury are the best acoustics in UK cathedrals. So that should excite your singers.”

An important renovation will be in progress during our visit to Bath Abbey, as the culmination of 10 years of planning. Work has been planned so that the Abbey will remain open throughout for services, with different parts of the building being used at different times as the work progresses. The Abbey’s famous fan vaulting and wonderful acoustics (and the organ) will be unaffected, though we may be asked to be flexible about how we use the space during our visit.
