“Camp [Alkulana] is a place where I can get away from all of my struggles, be myself, and not worry about what other people think of me. Camp [Alkulana] is one of my favorite places and I really hope I can come back next year,” one of the campers of 2013 wrote.
Following its 100 year anniversary celebration, Camp Alkulana embarks this summer on its second century of ministry to Richmond-area, low-income, at-risk children and youth. The camp expects to serve over 200 young people during four camp sessions.
“Opportunities are given for campers to enjoy the blessings of swimming in a cool mountain stream, trying new adventure activities, and growing meaningful relationships with each other and with God,” according to Director Beth Wright.
To encourage as many children and youth as possible to attend, campers pay a very small percentage of the actual cost to attend a session at Camp Alkulana. The camp relies almost entirely on gifts from churches and individuals to fund its summer and year-round programs.

You may make donations online (select “Associational Mission” for the fund and put “Alkulana” as the memo) or by using an envelope in the pew racks of the Sanctuary. [General instructions for online giving are available.]
